HIV/AIDS PROGRAM: “DE MUJER A MUJER” (FROM WOMAN TO WOMAN)

“De Mujer a Mujer” (Woman to Woman) is a current ILI program that seeks to educate and inform Latina women about HIV/AIDS, STDs, Domestic Violence and other related issues. This program educates and empowers women to make informed, healthy decisions regarding issues that impact their lives. “De Mujer a Mujer” reaches Latina women through a fiesta format. The activities allow open conversations about HIV/AIDS and other issues that affect women and relationships in an environment that is culturally and linguistically appropriate. Presentations take place in participant homes, local community centers, and churches. There are currently two ILI “De Mujer a Mujer” programs in Indiana: one in Marion County, in collaboration with Vida Nueva Methodist Church, and the second with the United Hispanic-Americans in Fort Wayne, Allen County.
